Our Take, March 2026
Honest recommendations based on current pricing and benchmarks.
Right now, the Radeon RX 7700 XT sits at the top of our value rankings. It's not the most powerful card out there, far from it, but nothing else gets you this many frames for this little money. If you're on a budget and just want to game at 1440p without overthinking it, this is the one.
You'll notice the RTX 5060 Ti 8 GB right behind it. On paper, the value looks solid. In practice, I'd skip it. 8 GB of VRAM in 2026 is just not enough. Newer titles are already pushing past that at high settings, and it's only going to get worse. If you're set on picking and NVIDIA card I'd rather go for the RTX 5070 or the RTX 4060 Ti 16 GB, both of which offer much better future proofing for just a bit more cash.
For anyone willing to spend a bit more, the Radeon RX 9070, Radeon RX 9070 XT, and Radeon RX 7900 XT are all seriously good picks. Great value for cards that actually play in the top tier. You get a big jump in power without the cost per frame going through the roof.
If you want real top end performance and you're being smart about where your money goes, the RTX 5080 is the sweet spot. And if raw power is all that matters and budget isn't a concern, the RTX 5090 is the fastest card you can buy today. Just don't expect good value out of it.
